Century Park

This is the largest park in Shanghai. It is located in Pudong, so the fresh air is wonderful. The lake is large and you are even allowed to walk on the grass, great for those Sunday picnics, flying a kite, or even a game of softball - if you have enough people with you.

If you get tired of looking after the kids then let them visit the play area and the little tykes will be too tired to scream at you later. For those of you who are young (or old) and in love then have a ride on the boats. If you are feeling lethargic they even have electric boats. You can also

hire a bicycle, tandem or pedal car that seats 4 people. Prices vary depending on how many, what size etc.

All of these activities are easy to find as the signs are pretty straightforward and in Chinese and English. It even has a ¡®YOU ARE HERE¡¯ symbol. So, even the most directional dysfunctional of us can be sure of finding what we want. However, it does say Minigolf ¨C but it still isn¡¯t finished (after two years) There are seven routes to walk along. For a more detailed examination, take a look at this website  http://cyberc3.sjtu.edu.cn/photo/park/

Getting there is relatively painless: Take Metro Line 2 and get off at the Science and Technology Museum station stop and walk along the boulevard to the park. It's a 10-minute walk with a breath-taking view of Liujiazui. If you go there, you really feel far away from the city, which is the main selling point of this park.

Century Park is located at 1001 Jinxiu Lu, Pudong (Along Metro Line 2) and is open daily from 0700-1800. It is 10RMB entrance fee. Be aware though that ticket prices may fluctuate when there is a special event on.
